Mieke Kolk, chairwoman
Taught at the Royal Academy of the Arts and the School for Journalism before entering Theatre Studies at the University of Amsterdam. She published numerous reviews, articles and books on women and theatre, music-theatre and edited the 2003-2007 Intercultural Theatre publication series “East meets West”, based on conferences on Arabic drama and theatre. Between 1983-1988, she was artistic director of the feminist theatre group Theatre Persona.
Sonja van der Valk, secretary
Initiator of the Domain for Art Criticism in Amsterdam. She worked as editor for the theatre journal Toneel Theatraal and edited several books on gender and theatre-criticism. She taught theatre criticism at the University of Amsterdam, and teaches theatre at the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten. Between 2001-2005, she organised a series of projects on women in theatre for the Dutch Theatre Institute.
Sahar Abdelrahim, treasurer
Graduated in 1995 at the University of Khartoum in Mathematics and Computer Sciences. Since 2002 she works in the Netherlands as an IT specialist, since 2008 as data warehouse consultant and IT specialist with ING. She is co-founder of the Stichting Sudanese Dutch Cultural Centre and an active member of ING communities on Chances for Children, Cultural Crossings, and Movement of Change.
Rianne Tamis, member
Studied Arabic language and literature at the Radboud University in Nijmegen, and specialised in Egyptian theatre. She taught Arabic and Egyptian drama at the Dutch-Flemish Institute in Cairo. In 2013 she returned from Khartoum, Sudan, where she worked at the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, and the Catholic Language Institute, where she taught Sudanese Arabic, and compiled a Sudanese Arabic-English dictionary.
